Family Schmidt

We're a harbour-city family through and through — Finn works as a marine engineer and is occasionally away for a week at a time, Lotte leads a marketing team and juggles the school run around meetings, and our kids (3 and 9) love nothing more than watching the big container ships come into port. We need an au pair who can step up and hold the fort solo when Finn's away, and who's genuinely comfortable with both a toddler's nap schedule and a nine-year-old's homework demands.

We live in a quiet residential street a short ride from the harbour, and our weekends often involve a ferry trip, the fish market, or a walk along the Elbe. We eat dinner together most nights and try to keep the house calm even when the schedule isn't. If you love the water and don't mind the occasional grey, drizzly day, Hamburg has a lot to offer.
