We're a creative-meets-technical household — Clara restores paintings for a regional museum, Ben is a structural engineer, and our two kids (5 and 9) split their time evenly between art projects and Lego engineering. We need an au pair who's genuinely happy either painting at the kitchen table or building something ambitious out of blocks, since both are daily occurrences here.
We live a short tram ride from Dresden's beautifully restored old town, along the river Elbe. Afternoons usually mean homework, a museum visit (we get in free thanks to Clara), or a walk along the riverside meadows. We eat together most evenings and love introducing an au pair to the city's quieter, less-touristed side.
Family Unique Experience
Dresden's old town is a genuine baroque masterpiece, rebuilt stone by stone after the war, sitting right on the Elbe river with meadows and cycling paths along the banks. Prague and Berlin are both under two hours away by train, making weekend trips very easy.
